Act to React
The multilateral youth exchange took place from 17th to 24th February, 2012 in Kostanjevica na Krki, Slovenia involving 5 promoters – 24 youngsters, 5 leaders from Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Slovenia.
The target group of the project were youngsters aged 18-25, who are devoted to Europe’s future and are willing to improve their sense of global solidarity and commitment concerning current issues.
Participants got to know how globalization – economic, social and cultural phenomenon is affecting our daily lives and the environment we live in. We believe the youth exchange gave them a good opportunity to learn more about the changes caused by globalization.
Our goal was to widen the horizons of participants through active approach on different topics such as mass media, celebrity cult, new ideologies, economic and environmental issues. The participants got an opportunity to discuss and thus express their own thoughts and opinions about the topic through the methods of non-formal education.
During the exchange we have had an interesting excursion into a protected forest area and learnt about importance of protecting the natural habitats. In the global world the number of people who are being marginalised is increasing.
Finally, during the exchange we worked towards an understanding, that it is not important to be for or against globalisation, but to react to change and to act accordingly, is what really counts.
